Magazine as a Best Place to Work in 2022 for our third consecutive year, and named one of FORTUNE's 2022 Best Medium Workplaces.As an Engineering Manager at Ro, you’ll help lead the evolution of the products and technologies that provide access to convenient and effective direct-to-patient healthcare. You’ll lead the team of engineers building Ro’s Health Data platform, which plays a critical role in the company strategy by collecting, storing, and providing secure access to patient health data as well as building services to support clinical decisions such as clinical alerting.
You’ll partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and other engineering teams to define and execute Ro’s product and technical vision.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead a high-performing engineering team building scalable services that are critical to Ro’s platform
- Ensure that health data APIs can be easily discovered and used by other engineering teams
- Develop team members and support their career growth with regular feedback and coaching
- Ensure the team is motivated, engaged, and collaborating effectively with the broader organization
- Partner with Product, Data, and Design to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap
- Establish team goals and metrics that are aligned with the company strategy while maintaining our technical standards and best practices
- Contribute actively towards the development and health of the larger engineering organization, including culture, innovation, and recruiting
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- 4+ years of engineering management experience
- 5+ years of experience architecting scalable web applications and distributed systems
- Track record of building high-performing, healthy, and sustainable teams that have addressed complex technical and organizational challenges
- Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships across the organization
- Passion for coaching and developing a diverse team of engineers
- Excellent communication skills with the desire and ability to adapt to your audience
- Comfort with ambiguity and fast-paced environments and a drive to actively seek clarity for yourself and the team
Bonus Points:
- 5+ years of experience delivering impactful systems in a technical leadership role
- Experience with health data, EHRs, alerting systems, and/or clinical informatics
- Experience building interfaces and APIs for other teams to publish and query time series data
- Experience building and maintaining rules engines
- Python and FastAPI familiarity

The target base salary for this position ranges from $221, 900 - $260,000, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable). When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. These considerations may cause your compensation to vary.Ro recognizes the power of in-person collaboration, while supporting the flexibility to work anywhere in the United States. For our Ro’ers in the tri-state (NY) area, you will join us at HQ on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
