And that is something to be excited about!Your Role and Responsibilities:In this role, you will be responsible for helping to translate and communicate the science and technology of our company into clear, compelling and successful funding proposals, and working with our technical and financial teams to ensure all required reports and documentation are prepared and submitted with the highest quality standards. At Xanadu, research and development of photonic quantum computing is a core activity.

Our company has a team of more than 100 Ph.D.-level scientists and engineers who are working hard to design and build the future of quantum computing hardware and software technologies. Our leading edge technology development can be supported by a number of public funding programs if we are able to clearly and concisely convey the scientific strengths and economic potential of our work.These proposals require a rare combination of a technical understanding of quantum physics and exceptional skills for written communications. This role provides a rare opportunity for an individual who is passionate about clearly communicating the details of the quantum technology revolution.Funding Proposals:

  • Familiarize yourself with all applicable funding programs in Canada and the USA for Xanadu’s R&D activities, and those of our public and private partners.
  • Work with members throughout the technical teams (hardware, software and architecture) to properly plan, budget and schedule proposed projects.
  • Use clear, persuasive, non-expert language to explain our projects, and their accompanying technical and business merits to the appropriate audience of reviewers. 
  • Prepare clear, high quality technical drawings to accompany proposals. 
  • Meticulously complete and file all required paperwork, and track and follow proposals through the entire submission, evaluation, award and reporting process.
  • Collaborate closely with the finance team to prepare budgets and file project expense reports.

Required Qualifications & Experience:●  Strong interest and experience in science writing, ideally for quantum physics.●  Research grant administration in public or private sectors.●  Minimum of a Bachelor’s Program in Engineering, Physics, Comp. Sci or related field. Ph.D. level and research experience strongly preferred in a high technology field, preferably related to quantum physics, such as electronics, optics, communications, computer hardware and networking.●  Demonstrated ability to write successful funding proposals for deep technology R&D projects.●    Able to work comfortably with many simultaneous projects of competing priorities and communicate their status on a timely basis to internal and external stakeholders.●  Strong ability to read and write highly technical documents in English, and clearly summarize scientific details for a less technical audience.●  Driven by “getting things done”, and a desire for excellence in your work.●  Attention to detail, organization, and thoroughness are essential.Values:Our values are important.
