Job Brief
We are currently looking for a Staff Frontend Engineer who will be responsible for building and improving our web experience. He/she will be responsible for setting the direction for the entire frontend experience for their area from design to production, as well as collaborating with other product and engineering teams to deliver a great user experience to our customers.
As the Staff Frontend Engineer, you will:
- Design and develop flexible and well-structured frontend architecture that conforms to industry standards
- Build and maintain reusable code and libraries for future use
- Collaborate with the UX design team to advise and ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
- Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability, a core tenant for any streaming service
- Set, and champion good engineering standards best practices across the organisation
- Contribute actively and proactively to optimize applications, processes and methodologies
- Act as the frontend quality gate for less experienced engineers or engineers from other disciplines

Qualifications Required:
- Extensive experience in software development using front-end stack (UI libraries/frameworks, Typescript, JavaScript)
- Excellent communication skills, ability to drive clarity and coordinate work between people and different teams
- Ability to efficiently deal with uncertainty and unknown areas, fast learn and develop
- Experience at all the stages of the software development lifecycle: ability to make refactoring that optimizes both functional aspects, as well as to reduce maintenance costs
- Experience with commercial product development, reliability and maintenance of the proposed solutions, strong focus on user experience
- Experience of agile practices (ex. Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Refactoring)
Nice to have/ Bonus points:
- Experience with media streaming over web and web players ex. VideoJS / Shaka
- Knowledge of Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as pairing and mobbing
- Experience implementing feature toggles for continuous deployment
- Familiar with service workers for when and how to use them
- Experience with GraphQL, Vue/Solid JS or similar libraries
- Strong bonus will be an experience and understanding of the principles of back-end development using strongly-typed languages/stack – e.g. .NET, C++, Rust, etc
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related engineering field
