Payment Scheme Managers act as the interface between Monzo and our various payment schemes (Mastercard, Bacs, Faster Payments etc). They represent Monzo to the schemes, manage the relationships, and lead scheme related projects. They ensure Monzo’s interests are well represented at the scheme level, and that the company is compliant with scheme rules. This role is critical in ensuring Monzo’s success within the UK payments industry, and is essential to the bank.
Your day-to-day:
- Being the first point of contact for, and managing our relationships with, our partner payment schemes (Pay.UK, Bacs, Faster Payments etc), and suppliers.
- Representing Monzo in payment scheme committees, acting as a senior voice and champion for the bank and the industry.
- Working on and leading payment scheme related projects like the UK’s New Payments Architecture, and onboarding and managing new schemes.
- Relaying Monzo’s requirements to partner schemes and third parties, and vice versa.
- Ensuring Monzo is compliant with scheme governance, and staying abreast of changes.
- Forging strong relationships with schemes and third parties.
- Negotiating contracts between Monzo and third parties, and owning the mini P&L and performance and unit economics for payment schemes at Monzo.
- Communicating general scheme performance, reporting and benchmarking Monzo’s performance with the schemes.

- Strong negotiation skills
- Extensive project management experience
