Reporting to the Head of Accounting, the Accounting Lead is an essential member of the accounting and finance team at Above Lending. This position has primary responsibility for all elements of the accounting process, from confirming transactions are properly recorded to ensuring that our financial statements clearly tell the story of our financial results. Additionally, this individual will work with the Head of Accounting to lead the evolution of the accounting function from start-up to world class.
This role requires a solid foundation in U.S. GAAP and a passion for financial operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have the ability to thrive in an environment of rapid change; work effectively within cross-functional teams; clearly communicate complex financial information to individuals across various departments; be highly resourceful; and deliver under tight deadlines.
What You'll Do
- Perform the monthly, quarterly and yearly close of the financial statements using NetSuite. This includes making the relevant accounting adjustments and analysis for the close
- Support cash management operations, including executing money movement and invoice payments
- Ensure that processes are in place to support the day to day running of finance and accounting operations
- Ensure relevant internal controls are in place for the accounting and finance operations
- Identify process improvements and assist in the implementation of relevant process change, policies and procedures to enhance the existing control environment
- Utilize a robust understanding of accounting standards, including accounting research as needed, to ensure compliance with US GAAP
- Assist in the audit process including serving as the primary contact person with the external auditors, preparing the relevant analysis for audit support, and responding to other inquiries from auditors
What We Look For
- Bachelor (B.A. / B.S.) or Master in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline.
- 5 – 7 years’ experience in accounting and finance operations
- Experience in financial records maintenance and reporting
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism
- Prior audit (Big 4) experience and CPA license a plus
