Primary Function:
The Test Engineer will work as part of the new product development team to verify performance of hardware, software, firmware and mechanical subsystems and find potential product defects before a design or design fix is released.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
- Own vehicle level test campaigns and collaborate with responsible engineers, manufacturing engineers, software developers, tooling teams and ground support teams to deliver a thoroughly tested product.
- Communicate fluidly across a variety of teams to identify product risks and how they will be addressed to ensure mission success.
- Develop complex test automation sequences using scripting languages such as Python.
- Design and carry out studies to suggest process and material selection to improve assembly and functionality.
- Develop and execute test plans to verify that products meet product requirements and customer expectations.
- Apply best practices and procedures to design, influence, and drive quality within the department and adjacent groups.
- Bring up and maintain typical design verification test equipment.
- Troubleshoot failures of materials, processes, and equipment.
- Design test fixtures as needed to complete assigned testing tasks.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes to meet client schedules and priorities.
- Detail oriented with a focus on quality, execution and follow through.
- Work closely with engineers and technical staff to implement test plans, schedules, updates, documentation, and knowledge transfer activities.
Education and Experience:
(Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Technologies or related engineering field.
- 3+ years of degreed experience in product testing, QA testing, or design verification testing.
- Experience executing test procedures, writing reports and qualifying/managing data outputs.
- Experience developing complex test automation sequences using python scripts.
- Experience working within the aerospace industry, preferred.
- Must possess a solid systems level understanding and have depth of system engineering test experience.
- Ability to understand, comprehend and provide feedback on written test plans and other documentation.
- Ability to follow instructions with good judgment and decision-making skills; must be punctual and dependable.
- Proficiency with Windows, MS Office (Excel, Word, & Outlook), attention to detail, organized with critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication in English, both in written and oral.
- Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.

Work Environment:
LAB:
Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
