Primary Function:
The Test Technician is responsible for executing tests according to engineering requirements as well as collecting data and observations to assist in root cause analysis of defects. Communicate directly with the client’s engineers & contractor technical staff regarding the status of specific test requests. May include writing reports and maintaining data logs to document results. Will receive special testing & product modification/rework instructions from the test owners, and subsequent setup, execution & data collection.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
- Possess a high-level working knowledge for the test(s) performed.
- Coordinate and facilitate test setup with other Technicians to ensure testing is up and running with respect to the appropriate infrastructure, processes and tools.
- Follow all specific test guidelines, procedures, and analyze test results with predetermined parameters while maintaining confidentiality of client and impartiality of data and results.
- Collect and report data using specified software and applicable database(s), and maintain department logs, records, metrics, and procedures.
- Observe behavior & provide the first pass evaluation of test results with predetermined parameters and other test metrics.
- Effectively communicate both in writing and orally with engineers, customers, and peers to work as a productive, cooperative and professional member of a team. Provide feedback for any test discrepancies, changes or improvement suggestions.
- Be actively involved in problem solving and work closely with the team to come up with effective solutions to meet customer requirements on time.
- Complete shift pass downs using notes about all relevant information concerning units under testing.
Education and Experience:
(Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; 2-3 year post-secondary diploma in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) field desirable.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a product development test environment
- Experience executing test procedures, writing reports and qualifying/managing data outputs.
- Experience executing python scripts helpful.
- Ability to understand, comprehend and provide feedback on written test plans and other documentation.
- Ability to follow instructions with good judgment and decision making skills; must be punctual and dependable.
- Proficiency with Windows, MS Office (Excel, Word, & Outlook), attention to detail, organized with critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication in English, both in written and oral.
- Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.

Work Environment:
Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
