About the Role:


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Prinicipal Consumer Finance Credit Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science and analytics, with a focus on consumer credit risk. You will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms to predict credit risk, optimize credit scoring, and enhance our decision-making processes.

What you'll do:


  • Develop and maintain predictive models to assess credit risk and forecast customer behavior.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate machine learning algorithms to improve credit scoring and underwriting processes.
  • Determine best internal and external data sources for use within modeling and production usage
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data science solutions into business operations.
  • Perform data cleaning, preprocessing, and feature engineering to ensure high-quality data for analysis.
  • Conduct A/B testing and other experiments to evaluate the impact of credit strategies and policies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing models and recommend improvements.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data science, machine learning, and credit risk management.

What we want you to have:


  • 7 - 10 years of related experience.
  • Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in data science, analytics, and statistical modeling in the consumer finance or credit risk industry.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib).
  • Solid understanding of credit risk modeling, credit scoring, and underwriting processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance in the consumer finance industry.
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and text analytics.

Base salary range: $180,000  - $210,000 annually.  Individual pay is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and other job-related reasons.
