Job Description
As Lead Optical Metasurface Designer you will be responsible for leading the multi-physics design and simulations of Lumotive’s next-generation dynamic metasurface technology. The ideal candidate will have the right balance as an individual contributor and team leader setting the direction of nanophotonic design.Your responsibilities will be:· Multi-physics design of metasurface unit cell with a combination of electromagnetic simulations, liquid crystal dynamics, and electrostatics with constraints based on CMOS manufacturing, electrical performance, and LC materials· Computational modulation pattern optimization and large scale array simulations to optimize beamforming performance· Setup and maintain software infrastructure and codebase for rigorous design and optimization of metasurfaces, coupling together multiple simulation tools· Work closely with ASIC design team on driver architecture, compute requirements and optimization of modulation pattern generation· Work closely with manufacturing and optical characterization team· Understanding of opto-electronic system tradeoffs like power, size, cost, and optical performance, size and how they are affected by the metasurface properties
Qualifications
· PhD in nanophotonics, optics, electrical engineering, physics or related fields· 5+ years experience in large scale photonic simulations using FDTD and similar techniques· 5+ years experience with Python, collaborating with Git, and writing unit / integration tests· Preferred experience with multi-physics simulations of opto-electronic devices· Project and team management of complex and ambiguous technical projects· Hands on experience with optical characterization of optoelectronic and photonic devices preferred
Additional Information
Pay range is $170,000 to $190,000 (USD) and scaled according to location + Performance based Quarterly Bonus + Equity depending on experience.
