SUMMARY


The Actuarial Analyst works under the supervision of an Actuary to:

  • Analyze and forecasts financial, economic, risk, and other data to provide accurate and timely information for strategic and operational decisions,
  • Establish metrics, provide data analyses, and work directly to support business intelligence
  • Evaluate industry, economic, financial, and market trends to forecast the organization's short, medium and long-term financial and competitive position.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 


  • Consult with stakeholders to design, develop and maintain actuarial and financial analyses and toolsets.
  • Ensures data integrity and financial report consistency by developing and executing necessary processes and controls around the flow of data.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on the work of peers to ensure the highest quality of output and synchronization across the team.
  • Understand and document the calculations and data flows related to the medical economics data being analyzed in the healthcare industry.
  • Continuously improve processes and workflows related to actuarial analyses and report development in the healthcare industry.
  • Support ad-hoc analytics requests and deliver insights to stakeholders.
  • Contributes judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal to moderate supervision.
  • Strong analytical written, communications and presentation skills, ability to source interpret and present analytics in a thoughtful and meaningful manner.
  • Create user stories and manage their development using Scrum and JIRA.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


This role does not have supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • Actuarial Analyst I
  • Experience in a managed care/health plan environment preferred
  • Prior analytical corporate or internship experience in the insurance industry preferred
  • Proficiency with SQL or Snowflake preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proactive self-starter, quick-learner, flexible team-player, ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain strong attention to detail, and prioritize work within tight deadlines.
  • Actuarial Analyst II
  • 1+ years’ experience in a managed care/health plan environment
  • experience with Medicare risk adjustment calculations and projections preffered
  • 1+ years’ experience with proficiency in SQL or snowflake
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with business customers in the healthcare industry and translate their needs into technical requirements
  • Proactive self-starter, quick-learner, flexible team-player, ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain strong attention to detail, and prioritize work within tight deadlines.
  • Experience with data mapping and data flow documentation in the healthcare industry
  • Actuarial Analyst III
  • 3+ years’ experience in a managed care/health plan environment
  • 1+ years’ experience with Medicare risk adjustment calculations and projections preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience with proficiency in SQL or snowflake
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a cloud environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with business customers in the healthcare industry and translate their needs into technical requirements
  • Proactive self-starter, quick-learner, flexible team-player, ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain strong attention to detail, and prioritize work within tight deadlines.
  • Experience with data mapping and data flow documentation in the healthcare industry

PREFERRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • 2+ years of experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik
  • Familiarity with Scrum and JIRA
  • Tableau Desktop Certified

EDUCATION AND TRAINING


  • Bachelors degree in a quantitative or technological / scientific discipline is required. 
  • Completed Society of Actuaries (SOA) Exams
  • Actuarial Analyst I: 2+ SOA Exams Completed
  • Actuarial Analyst II: 3+ SOA Exams Completed
  • Actuarial Analyst III: 4+ SOA exams completed

WORK ENVIRONMENT

TRAVEL


This role may require some travel based on business needs.

SALARY RANGE


  • Actuarial Analyst I: $70,000 - 90,000
  • Actuarial Analyst II: $85,000 - 105,000
  • Actuarial Analyst III: $100,000 - 130,000
