Senior Software Engineer

Description

Simple isn’t easy. We should know. Across 20+ years of delivering financial planning and analytics products that are simple to use, we’ve overcome numerous complex challenges. Along the way we’ve had plenty of failures, but from each one we try to learn and push forward with an alternative approach.  This is how we've stayed at the leading edge, creating products that are changing the way the world works. Our teams are empowered to solve customer problems in the way they think is best. We trust them to make good decisions about what problems to solve and how to solve them, and we give them the space to excel.

Learning and improvement are critical to our success, and as part of this there is time set aside for our engineers to spend on their personal development.

What will you be doing?

You’ll work alongside other smart and motivated engineers, product managers, and designers, solving meaningful problems for our customers. You’ll help set the technical and product direction for your team, guide the learning of less experienced engineers, and help uphold your team’s high standards. You’ll architect new components and services, build out test frameworks, and work on deployment pipelines and releases. To summarise, the work will be varied. The problems will vary a lot too.

Right now, one of our teams is making our main business analysis product much more flexible and dynamic, so customers can find insights they’ve never been able to get before. Another of our teams is migrating the technology underpinning their product to allow them to develop and release more quickly. And to pick another example, a third team is simplifying their product’s interface to help customers create budgets more quickly, whilst migrating the database schema so it can better respond when core configurations change. Whatever problems you work on, you'll develop new tools and processes as well as modify a wide range of existing components, so you’ll need to enjoy getting stuck into a variety of technologies to respond to customer needs.

What are we looking for?

  • A confident, experienced senior engineer who can make and communicate well-informed technical and architectural decisions
  • Adept at working in fast-paced product discovery with frequent customer feedback
  • The ability to see the big picture and to plot a path from where we are to where we’d like to be
  • A strong history of developing web applications, preferably using C#, SQL, and React / TypeScript
  • Proven ability delivering software products in a multitenant cloud environment - ideally AWS
  • Enthusiasm and passion, a willingness to learn, curiosity, and a growth mindset
  • A sense of fun and a genuine desire to work as part of a diverse, collaborative team
  • Bonus points for: experience working on financial products, working with data at scale, successfully leveraging test automation
