A little bit about the role…
Under the supervision of the CFO, the Accountant role will be responsible for managing and meeting recurring, and let's face it, unexpected deadlines. Our ideal candidate has experience managing day-to-day accounting operations, including financial reporting (GAAP and tax), accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, budget development, payroll, as well as treasury management and system integration experience. As the Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:
- Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries. Participate in month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, and other accounting duties in a timely manner.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Develop and interpret financial summaries and provide reports to management on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
- Job Costing and Project Accounting: Track and report on project costs, including labor, materials, and overhead. Provide financial analysis for project profitability and cost management. Communicate with Project Managers during project administration, monitor PRF for proper cost application, project close out, etc.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets for both company operations and individual projects. Provide financial forecasts to aid in strategic planning and decision-making.
- Expense Management: Monitor and manage company expenses, ensuring they are recorded correctly and within budgetary constraints. Verify and post details of business transactions, such as funds received and funds disbursed.
- Software Utilization: Utilize our ERP (Jonas Construction) to help project management specific contracts, including booking, committed costs, revenue recognition, cash flow, and timely completion of projects.
- Audits and Compliance: Assist in year-end audit requests and liaise with external auditors. Stay updated on accounting standards, industry regulations, and best practices. Implement and adhere to internal controls and company policies.

- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field.
- You have 3-5 years of accounting experience - bonus points if it is in the construction industry.
- You are proficient in Microsoft applications with strong Excel skills.
- You are proficient in ERP/Accounting software - we use Jonas Construction.
- You are an excellent communicator and can work well with a diverse team.
- You are highly organized and never miss even the smallest detail.
- You possess strong analytical and numerical skills and have the ability to understand the story behind the numbers.
- You are self motivated and can balance multiple projects while still adhering to deadlines.
