Job Description:
The U.S. Forest Service (FS) seeks a Power Platform Developer for Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of deployed applications, agile development of new applications, and modernization of legacy applications using both custom and low-code approaches.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Hands-on software development in an Agile environment for customer-facing and back-office application within the federal space.
- Develop code for a variety of business needs including enhancements, minor updates, security remediation, technology stack updates.
- Function as a developer in a Scrum Team, analyzing and assessing software designs and patterns, developing code and unit tests, coordinating with quality assurance and updating Sprint board and backlog.
- Works with Product Owner and Scrum Master to refine, organize and prioritize work.
- Participate in Sprint Team ceremonies such as kickoff, daily stand-up, planning, sprint demo, retrospective, as well as workflows such as development and refinement.
- Reviews and estimates design and effort for product backlog items including production issues, bugs, and feature enhancements.
- Design, code, test and deploy new features in all Power Platform technologies, including Power Pages, Power Automate, Dataverse, Power BI; Deploy Power Platform using CLI.
- Analyze existing code to verify and correct the implementation of business requirements; Implement and verify bug fixes in Power Pages, Power FX, JavaScript, YAML and LiquidScript.
- Write, edit and review technical documentation (wiki)related to application development and maintenance.
- Use GitHub repository to store source code, libraries, documentation, scripts, source code, document, release packages, and associated artifacts. Able to perform branching, merging and resolve conflicts in GitHub.
- Write clean and efficient code, following best practices and coding standards. Participate in peer reviews of team member code.
Required Skills
- 5+ years overall experience in Microsoft Power Platform
- 3+ years' experience in Power Pages,Power Automate, and Power Apps that interact with external data sources
- 2+ years’ experience in Dataverse, data modeling, and Power BI to visualize data and make dashboards.
- Experience in design and development of Canvas and Model-driven Power Apps by utilizing Microsoft Dataverse, SharePoint, or other databases as the backend data storage model.
- Knowledge of relational database concepts
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple project /application assignments
- Familiar with deployment and code/change management – and ideal if have done this in PowerApps context.
Nice to Have:
- MS PowerApps related certifications
- General experience with CRM systems
- Experience with RDL reports
- 2+ years’ experience in JavaScript and Liquid
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of software development
- Bachelor of Science in IT, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
- If less than Bachelors, then 9+ years of software development experience required
