Uphold Group operates across Europe with two brands. One being Uphold, a software platform where Enterprise clients and Retail consumers can trade Digital and Fiat assets. The other being Optimus Cards, a FCA regulated entity providing card and related solutions for financial institutions.About Optimus CardsOptimus Cards UK Ltd is an Electronic Money Institution authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK under the E-money regulations. We are a Principal member of Mastercard.
Our business is providing white label card solutions to regulated and non-regulated entities and we issue prepaid cards and debit cards on behalf of our clients. Our client base is varied from Credit Unions, Financial Institutions and Crypto firms.The Financial Manager will support the European Head of Finance and service both business lines with a greater weighting towards scaling the Optimus Cards business and ensuring the day to day financial needs run smoothly. There may be one direct report and indirect support from teams in Portugal and the US.

We are a relatively small company so agile in nature, fast paced, in an ever changing environment with advancements in Technology and evolving consumer demands, so ensuring we are able to keep up with market changes and even be ahead of them in some cases.What you’ll be doing primarily:
- Support sales with pricing, modeling, pipeline presentation and management
- Introduce a time recording system and process to capitalise project relating expenses and claim R&D tax credits improving profitability and cash flow
- All new projects needing a one pager business case template completed to aid prioritisation for the business
- Creating a management dashboard with portfolio level data that is useful and provides insight into the underlying portfolio and by each client
- Ensuring daily settlement process is completed on time before cut with Mastercard
- Pulling together a business dashboard, KPI pack to review all departments
- Billing client completed timely and look for opportunities to increase revenues
- Ensuring client and supplier/vendor contracts are reviewed and robust
- Support during month end to review accruals, variances, raise queries, resolve accounting issues, understand movements
- Daily signing off prefunding/client bank funds vs our tracker and expectations
- Ensure pass through expenses are billed at current rates so when expenses change, our billing is updated to reflect
- Supporting Unit Costing to support pricing, margin management, client profitability and commissions payable to partners
- Understand our safeguarding of client funds and support the daily reconciliation to ensure the automated reconciliation process works as expected
- Pulling together a business dashboard, KPI pack to review all departments
- Reviewing settlement volumes, prefunding and ensuring liquidity covers settlement
- Working on projects to realise further opportunities with key suppliers including Temenos processing, Mastercard CBA and others
- Submissions directly to the FCA and working with Compliance to ensure all FCA reporting requirements are met
- Assisting monthly close process and relating settlement and other reconciliations
- Supporting expansion into new markets with existing product and commercialising new products into existing markets
- Providing approval for all supplier, expenses, payroll and relating tax payments
- Applying CPI/RPI related price increases to all clients
- Ensuring all tasks are documented and in our confluence knowledge store
- Assisting and ensuring VAT calculations completed for the legal entities and timely submitted into HMRC
Required skills and qualifications:
- Accounting Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT
- Degrees: Finance, Accounting, Maths, Economics, Business and others
- Worked in financials services environment is a must
- Strong English speaker and good communications skills
- A people’s person, someone who enjoys meeting people
- Strong at presenting information and turning data into insights
- Collaborating across all departments and locations
- An inquisitive and fix it mindset
- Process, documentation driven
Bonus if you have:
- Experience with the issuing business would be great, software and digital assets.
- In-depth knowledge of banking frameworks and payment methods.
- Knowledge of interchange fees, scheme fees, processing fee, transaction types
