This internship is for ambitious and curious candidates who want to be treated like marketing professionals. That's why we promise to provide real and numerous opportunities for you to learn new skills from our experienced and approachable staff, attend client meetings, and create actual client deliverables.The ideal candidate will be an exceptional writer, creative and strategic thinker, extremely detail-oriented, and passionate about a creative career in digital marketing. You should be able to follow instructions, work quickly and efficiently, and be a team player.
You will gain broad experience writing for a variety of digital channels on behalf of amazing clients like Special Olympics, International Planned Parenthood Federation, the American Lung Association, Rainforest Trust, and Boston Children's Hospital. As a Marketing Creative Strategy intern, you will be integral to our marketing team's operations and work closely with our Creative Strategists, Project Managers, Fundraising Strategists, and Designers to execute a wide array of tasks including, but not limited to:
- Collaborate with your internal teams to plan and develop content for multi-channel digital campaigns that convert new and existing audiences.
- Be a part of brainstorm sessions to inspire creative themes, strategies, and story ideas for campaigns.
- Write the first drafts of campaign content across all relevant platforms and channels. This includes writing emails and newsletters, social media posts for both paid advertising efforts as well as organic, and web content such as blogs and landing pages.
- Edit and proofread content.
- Provide art direction for creative assets such as email components and social media graphics. This includes writing design requests and collaborating with in-house Designers.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed. We want to know what you're interested in and help you grow and make the most of your time with us!
Requirements
You’ll be helping national, mission-based organizations and companies that make the world a better place. Our ideal candidate is, first and foremost, a strong and passionate writer who wants to learn how to use their creative talent to inspire donors and activists to act.
- You must be available a minimum of 16 hours a week (2 days a week) on a fixed schedule starting in September 2024. The internship is a 4-month position, with the possibility of extending.
- This can be a remote position.
- If you live in the DC area, you can work in our Dupont Circle office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and remotely during the other days of the week.
- A related degree such as a BA in English, journalism, or mass communication is a plus, but not required.
- Please include a cover letter and 2-4 writing samples. The samples can be anything that shows off your writing abilities: a college newspaper article, a blog post, a short essay, digital content, etc.
