Job Summary
FEA engineer with responsibilities to develop, maintain, and conduct high voltage (HV) Li-Ion battery pack level structural simulations, develop battery pack finite element analysis (FEA) models based on test results, and provide technical advises to internal and external customers for the design optimization of HV automotive Li-Ion battery packs.This job is based at ONE’s headquarters in Novi, MI.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Involve in all aspects of structural design and analysis on battery packs, modules, or subsystems, verify design concepts, provide assessments and recommendations to mechanical, electrical, and hardware engineers.
- Conduct FEA analysis to simulate vibration, mechanical shock, and crush/crash tests, provide design directions and recommendations to improve structural performance.
- Develop and coordinate test and validation activities for verification and validation of battery packs, modules, and components, including test plan setup, test involvements, project schedule, and result analyses.
- Correlate analysis results to battery module/pack test results. Develop, validate, and improve battery FEA models for structural simulations.
- Interact with validation engineers to conduct root cause analysis and provide technical proposals and solutions to resolve engineering problems.
- Participate in benchmarking activities.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum two years of industrial or academic experience with linear and nonlinear structural FEA.
- Experience with CAE tools such as Altair HyperWorks suite, ABAQUS, and LS-DYNA3D.
- Ability to reduce complex systems to meaningful and insightful FEA simulations.
- Ability to differentiate and utilize both system and subsystem analysis techniques to evaluate complex interactions.
- Ability to define DOEs and analyze the influence of design parameters, to optimize the product design for a given application.
- Prior knowledge of Battery Electric Vehicles, Electrochemistry and Li-Ion batteries and cell design is a plus.
- Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision; take proactive role in executing assignments in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload based on changing needs and manage through conflicting perspectives.

Work Schedule
- Full-time 40 hours and generally scheduled Monday through Friday 8am-5pm EST
- Work schedule to be established with supervisor to ensure Company’s client and business needs are met.
