Data Standards Lead to support a federal government client engagement in the Washington, DC metro area. This role is pivotal in establishing and maintaining robust data standards and governance frameworks across our client's organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data management, a deep understanding of federal data standards and architecture best practices, with proven technical experience in leading teams to implement these standards effectively. Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Develop Data Standards: Define and implement comprehensive data standards and best practices that align with the federal client's organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Governance Framework: Support and maintain a data governance framework to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle.
Metadata Management: Lead technical efforts in metadata management, including the creation, maintenance, and utilization of metadata to enhance data quality and accessibility.
Data Integration and Quality: Collaborate with data engineers and architects to ensure seamless integration of data standards into data pipelines and systems. Implement quality assurance measures to validate adherence to standards.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to data standards and governance, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, IT, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and promote standardized data practices.
Basic Qualifications:
US Citizen with the ability to secure US Federal Security Clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Data Management, or a related field;
Masters Degree or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Strongly Preferred
8+ years experience in leading technology or digital transformation projects with a strong preference for federal government experience
5+ years of experience in facilitating success in establishing data standards, data management, and leading the technical and human aspects of data-related projects.
Coding skills in general purpose languages like Scala or Python, and familiarity with software engineering principles around testing, code reviews and deployment
Direct technical experience designing and working with SQL, graph databases, and/or graph query language such as SPARQL
Previous experience hands-on experience setting up and working with data catalog
