The Center for Global Development (CGD), an independent, non-partisan research organization in Washington, DC seeks a Program Coordinator for the Global Education and Child Wellbeing Program. The Education and Child Wellbeing program researches the best ways to improve children's education and their well-being, build human capital, and reduce poverty and inequality in the developing world. We use our research to do policy outreach that elevates neglected or underfunded topics like violence against children, lead poisoning, and school meals on the agenda of bilateral donors and international organizations.
This assignment is a chance to play an important role in organizational support for CGD’s research and policy proposals on critical issues in education and child wellbeing. The Program Coordinator will provide high quality day-to-day support across the team, to colleagues based in London and DC, on a broad array of functions. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management, analytical and writing skills. Knowledge of issues related to field of global education is desired.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate operational and management tasks of the Education and Child Wellbeing Program in collaboration with the Senior Program Manager and team members based in CGD's Washington DC and London offices. Responsibilities include:
- monitoring the status of ongoing project deliverables;
- writing progress reports for funders on research progress and products, as well as preparing grant reports;
- under the guidance of the Senior Program Manager, assist with the management of consultant and sub-grant contracting processes;
- monitoring budgets and tracking program expenditures; and
- coordinating team travel
- Coordinate logistics for all aspects of public and private events, roundtables, and workshops.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of the team's program administration.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field required.
- 1-2 years professional experience in international development and/or the field of education is preferred but not required.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is a necessity.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment. An ability to see ahead and think strategically is essential.
- Outstanding communications and writing skills in English.
- Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Poise and can-do attitude. Comfort working as an individual, with small groups, and with senior staff. Ability to work on projects spanning different time zones and cultural contexts.
The following qualifications and skills would be a plus:
- Previous experience in project and/or grant management.
- Familiarity with Salesforce.
- Experience and interest in education and child wellbeing.

Salary range: $54,340 - $58,000. Pay commensurate with education, skillset, and experience.
