Your role and impact


Reporting to the Director of Product Design you will design and execute on the strategies that shape our configuration flows - sign-up process, onboarding, account setup, and more. You will own projects end-to-end for your team and are comfortable working closely with a diverse team of designers, engineers, and product managers who care deeply about creating impactful experiences. As a core member of our design team, you will help us optimize our tools and processes as we continually strive to improve our methods and efficacy.

This role has a significant visual design component, and you will be impacting our global styles through your contributions. This role will require a data-driven approach with quick iteration cycles for seamless optimization.

Responsibilities


  • Design and prototype new user experiences for new features and products
  • Communicate, research and design using mockups, storyboarding, visual presentations, and writing behavioral documentation
  • Develop creative, simple, and highly usable solutions for how products interact in response to human behavior
  • Document clear, organized solutions that are highly understandable in flow, function, and status by stakeholders, engineers, and unfamiliar eyes
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers and product managers of the assigned project in determining design directions and decisions
  • Assist with new user interface testing and conduct usability tests to get feedback on new designs where applicable
  • Iterate on designs based on feedback and data, expecting some ambiguity and change during a project
  • Maintain and ensure user interface design and behavioral consistency across product types
  • Continue to learn and stay up-to-date with UX/UI design trends, design tools, and prototyping methods
  • Advocate for the user and deeply understand their needs
  • Report the status of work clearly to stakeholders and provide visibility to designs

You have


  • Passion for design, understanding customer needs, and interpreting their intent.
  • A proven track record of delivering highly engaging experiences that drive results.
  • 2+ years of experience as a designer working within product teams.
  • Demonstrable core design skills in typography, layout, hierarchy, and color.
  • End-to-end experience with all aspects of the design process from conception through delivery.
  • Strong understanding of quantitative data tools and how to use them in concert with qualitative research.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar
  • Strong communication skills without a fear of over-communication.
  • Experience working empathetically and collaboratively across different teams and disciplines.
  • Experience with inventory management and quantitative research is a plus.
  • Experience with the sign-up process, onboarding, and/or account creation is a plus.

Sortly is a fully distributed company. This is a full-time, 100% remote role. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
