Description
As a Director of Retail Operations for a dealer in the foodservice equipment and supplies industry, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the day-to-day activities of the retail sales division, ensuring that the division is performing efficiently and effectively. The role requires outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills and an ability to develop innovative solutions that push boundaries. The director of operations will work closely with executives to strategize and develop long-term plans that usher in new levels of productivity and success for the company. All employees are expected to adhere to Ace Mart business philosophy, guidelines and policies as laid out in the Ace Mart Mission Statement, Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures Manual and Safety Program.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Organize and oversee the work and schedules of the Retail Project Management team.
- Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Participate in the hiring and training of retail associates.
- Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, analyze, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives.
- Establish data analytics to establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated and conveyed; identify opportunities for improvement.
- Drive the customer experience through best practices in merchandising, visual displays, promotions, and store technology implemented by the Retail Project Management team.
- Improve customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to create and implement training programs specifically for retail store positions.
- Collaborate with Retail Leadership and other department leaders to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
- Analyze and monitor financial reports and budgets and review them monthly with Regional and Store Managers to achieve financial objectives.
- Draw on relationships with Regional Sales Managers, department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
- Communicate and explain new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meet with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including sales, finance, customer service, merchandising, and employee management.
- Masterful organizational, communication, and leadership skills, backed by previous professional success.
- Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics using business management software (ex: ERP, CRM).
- Strong proficiency in data analytics software (ex: Power BI, Tableau).
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment
Associates in this position will be working in an environment with these conditions:
- Open & sometimes noisy office atmosphere.
- Occasional work in temperatures up to 95 degrees with some exposure to dust.
- Quarterly travel to markets with overnight stays required.
Physical Demands
- Pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.
- Sitting up to four hours at a time.
- View computer monitor up to six hours daily.
- Lift 25-35 lb. boxes approximately 10 times a day. Includes:
- Bending
- Stooping,
- Reaching overhead up to 6ft. high
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and normal operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
This position requires occasional travel.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required. Master’s degree in Business Administration preferred.
- Ten or more years in a senior leadership role in a field related to our industry.
- Retail experience strongly preferred.
