DSFederal,Inc.is seeking for an AWS Cloud Systems Administrator to play a key role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of the servers and Amazon Web Services (AWS) instances for a federal project, including communicating with stakeholders, ensuring continuous availability, optimizing system performance, and implementing proactive security measures, and creating necessary supporting documentation.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
AWS Administration:
· •Provide continuous support for AWS instances, including EC2 and RDS databases.· •Manage AWS accounts, digital certificates, and overall system administration tasks.· •Provide technical support to application teams, including modifying RDS instances.· •Audit and optimize provisioning of EC2 instances.· •Coordinate and execute migrations from MySQL to RDS.· •Procure AWS reserved instances to optimize costs.· •Design, implement, and configure IPv6 networks within Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).
System Administration:
· •Conduct system administration, operational support, and ongoing maintenance to ensure sustained availability of applications.· •Perform preventive, adaptive, and corrective maintenance, including backup and restoration of data.· •Ensure infrastructure availability of at least 99.9%.· •Implement and respond to system monitors for issues such as low disk space and high CPU usage.· •Conduct and review Nessus scan logs and promptly address high/critical items.· •Support risk assessments, vulnerability scanning, system patching, and change management procedures.· •Proactively monitor logs for potential threats and respond accordingly.· •Maintain the architecture software stack, including OS, clamAV, Splunk, and New Relic.· •Disable inactive user accounts and audit systems for decommissioning.· •Conduct routine architectural and strategic meetings with project management and application teams.Requirements
Experience Required:
· •Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration, especially in AWS environments.· •Proven track record of managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure.· •Experience with incident response procedures and vulnerability management.· •Demonstrated ability to participate in architectural reviews and migrations
Technical Skills Required:
· •Proficiency in AWS services, particularly EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail.· •Strong system administration skills, including Linux environments.· •Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.· •Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly.· •Excellent communication and collaboration skills.· •Capacity to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.· •Familiarity with scripting languages for automation (e.g., Python, Bash).
Certification Required:
· AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) a plus
Education Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
