About the role:
Key Finance operational team member, this individual will be responsible for leading the global accounting and finance operations activities of the Company. The ideal candidate is someone who inspires a high-performing accounting team but can also embrace ambiguity and loves solving problems. The candidate will possess a solid knowledge of US GAAP principles, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and financial operations. The candidate will also possess strong management and team leadership competencies gained through prior experience managing a corporate accounting department within a large, complex global organization.
You will play a critical role in ensuring we continue building a world-class accounting function while partnering across the business to ensure our systems and processes are running smoothly. Our goal is to be scalable as we push towards global best-in-class operations.
You may find yourself doing all of the following:
- Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and local statutory reporting requirements to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparing and reviewing monthly close ledger entries and reconciliations
- Researching technical accounting matters such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), software development cost (ASC 350), share-based compensation (ASC 718) recording and implementing new accounting guidance
- Reviewing intercompany invoicing, reconciliations, and consolidation and gain/ loss on sale of crypto entries
- Collaborating with FP&A on financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
- Managing state and federal tax filings and corporate reporting (in coordination with external tax firms)
- Identifying process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organization
- Leading delivery of accounting tasks and projects
- Owning end-to-end process to support various internal business partners, such as Engineering, Marketing, IT/ Security, resolve issues and answer questions
- Assessing the effectiveness of controls in their area to design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities
- Collaborating on leading strategic partnerships and vendor relationships
- Assisting with ad hoc requests and projects, such as system automation, process improvements and researching accounting topics
- Assisting with treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting
Qualification Requirements:
- 5+ years of accounting experience; public accounting experience and CPA is a plus
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and standards (e.g., US GAAP)
- Experience leading a team and identifying process improvements and efficiencies
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (can perform complex functions) and experience using Netsuite
- Strong sense of ownership
