Job Description
Crown is seeking a skilled Electronic Installation Technician with expertise in installing and fabricating military, federal, or commercial radio electronic equipment and fiber optic cable systems. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with FAA National Airspace (NAS) communications systems and cabling. You will play a key role in ensuring the successful installation and maintenance of sophisticated electronic systems, requiring both technical acumen and the ability to lead installation teams.Note: This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska, but you will be required to travel to remote locations throughout the state.Key Responsibilities:Installation & Fabrication:
- Install and fabricate radio electronic equipment and fiber optic cables for military, federal, or commercial use, with a focus on FAA NAS communications systems.
- Set up and align VHF and UHF AM radios, and configure radio control equipment (RCE).
- Follow specific design layouts for FAA NAVAID and Radio Communication Systems, including ICMS NAVAID Facilities (i.e., ILS, RVR, PAPI, ALA) and NEXCOM Radios.
Testing & Troubleshooting:
- Conduct a variety of tests using established methods, prepare test specimens, adjust and operate equipment, record test data, and identify deviations from equipment malfunction or observational errors.
- Utilize complex test equipment with guidance from supervisors or higher-level technicians as needed.
Construction & Maintenance:
- Construct components and subunits, adapt standard equipment, or assemble, construct, or deconstruct simple or standard equipment or parts.
- Service or repair simple instruments or equipment.
- Assist CETS in the performance of plant construction activities, such as building duct banks, installing conduits, wiring, and running cables up towers.
Technical Expertise:
- Utilize manual and power tools, test equipment (multi-meter, ohmmeter, power meter, oscilloscope, etc.) effectively.
- Conduct initial electronic baseline readings and generate required paperwork such as the Facility Reference Data File (FRDF), following FAA Technical Handbooks.
Software & Documentation:
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Office, and Excel.
- Connect Telco requirements, including Commercial Telco, RCL, Field Cable, and Fiber Optics.
FAA Liaison:
- Interface with FAA Air Traffic and Technical Operations during radio installations, adhering to engineering packages and field changes.
Leadership & Communication:
- Lead site installations involving multiple crews.
- Communicate effectively with installation teams, management, and stakeholders.
Technical Problem Solving:
- Read and interpret engineering and electrical wiring diagrams.
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment as part of radio replacement projects or technical refreshes.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand, sit, or crouch for extended periods; lift and move objects up to 75 lbs; operate hand trucks or pallet jacks for items weighing up to 350 lbs.
- Work at heights over 60 feet, climbing towers to install junction boxes, cabling, antennas, lightning protection devices, and grounding systems.
General:
- Pass a government background check.
- Work non-standard hours as required.
- Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Qualifications
Electronics Degree or a minimum of five years of related experience in the installation and fabrication of electronic equipment.Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
- Proficiency with Spectrum Analyzers and Time-domain Reflectometers.
- Experience in UHF/VHF Radio alignment, Microwave systems, Voice Switches, and Air Traffic communication systems.
- CDL and experience pulling trailers.
- Experience operating heavy equipment
