At District Photo, our employees are the heart of our company. We are seeking a GMP Laminator-Slitter Operator in our Beltsville factory

Job Overview


Duties and responsibilities of position:


  • Efficiently complete equipment set-up, start-ups, change-overs, operation and shut-downs of the Finishing Machines, as required by standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production schedules
  • Monitor quality and inspect product for flaws while machine is in production 
  • Management, organization, and maintenance of large amounts of data
  • Confirm job specifications based on job ticket prior to finishing
  • Use critical thinking skills to manage workflow throughout the production floor
  • Creation of reports through a database driven system. Reporting on hourly throughput, waste, and other major KPI
  • Completion of daily paperwork. Such as: operators’ logs, efficiency reports, waste reports
  • Load rolls of material onto equipment for processing
  • Review hourly productivity and quality data with your supervisor
  • Oversee and report any quality or productivity concerns to supervisor
  • Comply with all job-related ISO quality procedures and customer specifications
  • Review with machine operators at end of shift paperwork and housekeeping.
  • Maintain a neat and safe workplace
  • Crosstrain on other machines to assist in production as needed
  • Ensure safety in operations
  • Any other duties as assigned

Our ideal Print Laminator/Slitter Machine Operator will have:

  • Ability to      troubleshoot basic and routine manufacturing issues

  • Willingness      to learn and be trained in different aspects of department and machinery
  • Ability to      work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven      environment

Minimum qualifications:


  • Reading, writing and math skills equivalent to a HS Diploma or GED.
  • Understand  basic manufacturing process
  • Able to work with multiple priorities and people
  • Maintain inventory storage in a clean, orderly manner
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work with others
  • Ability to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving, and manipulating materials
  • Use control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines
  • Ability to reach, bend, twist, grasp and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs+
  • Ability to work overtime hours including weekend hours as needed to meet customer needs required
  • 1 year experience as a machine operator in a Manufacturing and Production environment, preferred but not required. 
  • Must be able to work with computers and be comfortable with all aspects of machinery

· Must be reliable and punctual

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and possess valid documentation at time of offer

Preferred qualifications:


  • 2-3 years  Machine operation experience including set up; maintenance and  troubleshooting automated machines
  • Previous experience with computers in an IT compacity

Degree or apprenticeship in press operation, mechatronics, mechanics, or other technical trade involving automated equipment
