Job Purpose
This Senior Cloud Engineer role at Nerdery is responsible for managing and implementing Google Cloud technology for our customers. This role will design, develop, and manage robust, secure, scalable, highly available, and dynamic cloud solutions to drive business objectives. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement technical best practices, while continuously optimizing cloud services.
This role is also responsible for driving deployment automation, developing infrastructure as code and scripts, and implementing necessary tools and technologies. The role will play a vital part in ensuring adherence to compliance and regulatory standards, as well as promoting and fostering a culture of security consciousness within the organization.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Work with Back-End & Front-End developers to support integration and deployment efforts
- Develop and maintain reusable templates and code to automate solution delivery and deployment
- Ensure the availability, performance, security, and scalability of the production system by implementing proactive system monitoring
- Professional work experience in GCP administration with strong fundamentals in computing, networking, security, and storage
- Write readable, maintainable infrastructure as code with minimal technical oversight
- Communicate with Nerdery employees and Nerdery clients about task status, availability, and questions about technology
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of professional experience within the software industry
- 3+ years of professional experience with GCP
- Must have a professional GCP Certification
- 1-2 years of experience with Terraform
- Experience with CI/CD automation
- Experience with ETL/ELT on the GCP platform
- Experience deploying web applications to GCP
- Experience with GCP
- Data Encryption
- Networking Security and Firewalls
- IAM
- Logging and Monitoring
- KMS
- Experience with Docker
- Experience working in a distributed, agile environment planning and executing on a projects using Agile methodologies
- Confident with use of Git for version control

- 1-2 years of experience with Azure or AWS
