R&D Project Manager

Azumo is seeking an experienced R&D Project Manager with a strong technical background to help develop novel optical technologies for the automotive market.  You’ll contribute to a dynamic, close-knit team in a company that is experiencing dramatic growth. We are looking for someone who has had proven performance meeting tight deadlines with often complex requirements, a self-starter and quick learner who sees solutions rather than barriers, and who is comfortable to be in a constantly changing environment. As an R&D Project Manager on Azumo’s automotive team, you will be responsible for fielding customer requests, managing projects internally to ensure on-time delivery, and assisting in the progress of new research.
The successful candidate should have the following skills and be able to own these responsibilities:

  • Meet the KPIs established for the project
  • Controls project resources - day to day work activities
  • Solves or leads the solution to problems/issues of the project
  • Validates project team members activities and drives timing to ensure milestones
  • Oversees concepts and mockup builds to support customer meetings
  • Works within a budget for the project
  • Manages decision making responsibility for key project design details
  • Presents to customers in Design Review and Project Status reviews
  • Manages all project changes and coordinates through the team
  • Manages Design to Cost for the product / project
  • Responsible for project team members appraisal input
  • Promote Azumo culture to all team members
  • Acts as a technical focal point for the team.

Education / Work Experience


The successful candidate should have 3-5 years experience with proven project performance. A BS or higher degree in the following disciplines:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Engineering Physics
  • Material Sciences Engineering
  • Opto Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics
  • Multi-physics
