IT Field Technician, VoIP
(On-Site Position near Kansas City/Lenexa, KS)
Job Description
Field Technicians provide front-line technical support for end users and troubleshooting of server and network systems. This position will have a focus on VoIP and will include diagnosing network connectivity, power over ethernet, QOS and making necessary adjustments. Each day, you will troubleshoot and remediate issues on-site for clients. The Field Technician is an advanced problem solver with creative solutions for long-term stability. You will be responsible for timely escalation and effective communication of IT and Telecom issues and needs to clients and senior staff members.
You will track, route, and redirect problems to correct resources. The Field Technician will interact with users that include Executive client contacts. You will work with the support team and management to ensure issues are processed quickly and effectively for the highest support levels. You will provide positive and professional support for clients over the phone and in person. Field Technicians ensure tickets are filled out according to company standards, ensuring proper documentation and closure. You will perform repairs to software or peripheral equipment configurations, following design or installation specifications. Occasionally, you will provide training to end users on the proper use of hardware, phones or software and provide training to new team members.
Field Technicians participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, VoIP systems, software, and networking is essential. This includes familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS), hardware components, common software applications, and VoIP telephone systems both hosted and on-premise.
Experience with Voice over IP systems such as Ringcentral, Nuso, Altigen, Asterisk or other similar hosted or on-premise telecommunication vendors.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Field Technicians often interact with end-users and must be able to explain technical issues and solutions in a clear and understandable manner.
Field Technicians need the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot common hardware and software problems. Logical thinking and problem-solving skills are crucial.
Excellent customer service skills are important, as Field Technicians often work directly with end-users who may be experiencing technical issues or frustrations.
The ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks is crucial, especially when responding to multiple service requests in a field setting.
Familiarity with basic networking concepts, such as IP addressing, DHCP, and DNS, is beneficial as Field Technicians often work with networked devices.
All positions require the successful completion of a criminal background check, and further background checks if the position involves access to sensitive information or secure facilities.
This position requires travel to different locations, which requires a valid driver’s license, intermittent DMV checks, and a reliable personal vehicle.

Salary Range
$40,000- $53,999 annually (Non-Exempt) This posted salary range is a reasonable estimate. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, specific working location, and market position. Eligible for overtime pay.
