NOVA Engineering is hiring a
Certified City
Arborist
for a north Atlanta municipality. The city arborist is responsible for enforcing the tree ordinance and providing citizens with guidance on tree removal requirements in the city. This includes overseeing tree protection, planting, maintenance, and removal in accordance with the municipality's Tree Preservation Ordinance and Administrative Guidelines.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing of tree and site plans (LDP and Building Permits)
- Performing inspections to ensure compliance with city ordinances related to landscaping and trees
- Providing educational support to the city and its residents
- Conduct tree assessments for health, risk, and valuation purposes.
- Review and approve tree protection and landscape plans submitted by developers.
- Issue permits for tree removal and ensure compliance with city ordinances.
- Provide expert advice on tree-related issues to city staff, elected officials, and the public.
- Lead educational outreach programs on the benefits of trees and proper tree care practices.
- Coordinate with other departments to integrate urban forestry into city planning and projects.
Qualifications:
Must be an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified Arborist.
4+ years of work experience as a Municipal Arborist or Urban Forester; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Communicate effectively in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
Operate modern office equipment, including computer equipment and software programs relevant to the work performed.
Consistently demonstrate professionalism, ethical integrity, and exceptional customer
service.
