Contracts Administrator Summary

If so, the Contracts Administrator position may be the job for you! As the Contracts Administrator, you will collaborate with corporate counsel and the Legal Coordinator to develop and implement processes for reviewing, negotiating, and drafting natural gas sales agreements. You are responsible for guiding the majority of sales agreements though the legal review process from start to finish, and escalating special cases to legal counsel for review.
You will work closely with company stakeholders in Sales and Supply and Risk Management to “paper” sales agreements and may work directly with potential customers to understand and address their issues. You will also be responsible for tracking sales agreements and related documentation.

The ideal candidate has previous experience as a contracts coordinator, including data entry and establishing organized systems, and is familiar with legal requirements for timely execution, overall compliance, and safe storage of all contracts throughout the enterprise.
Additional Responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes requests for proposals and customer or counterparty edits to company contracts
- Analyzes, negotiates, and drafts contract language and approves counterparty-requested changes to company contract templates within expected service levels
- Reviews and submits recommendations to manager for unique or highly specialized contracts
- Triages contract requests and prioritizes appropriately to complete contractual review and execution on schedule with customer and internal stakeholders’ needs
- Collaborates with sales team, operational teams, and other internal business partners on contract details
- Provides regular status reports to keep management and internal clients apprised of the status of requests
- Ensures accurate tracking of contractual records and documents
- Generates reports and metrics for management review
- Drafts notices and communications related to contracts
- Monitors contractual deadlines and conditions to ensure compliance
- Identifies contracting trends and best practices and participates in drafting updated contract templates
- Works with legal counsel to stay apprised of applicable laws, regulations, and governmental contracting requirements and how they impact company contracting practices
- Stays apprised of internal policies and operational practices to ensure contract language and obligations are aligned with actual practices
- Participates in cross-functional discussions of the company contracting process, recommending and implementing improvements to improve internal and external client experience and efficiency
- Uses contract lifecycle management software, Salesforce, and/or business productivity software programs to perform assigned duties in an efficient and professional manner.
- May serve as corporate representative on claims related to customer contracts (GA)
- Works with the in-house legal team, including law clerks, corporate counsel, and legal coordinator, on research, best practices, and legal operations, lending support as needed.
Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a contract admin or similar role
- Natural gas experience preferred
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with contract law, accounting principles and finance
- Has strong negotiation and mediation skills
- Possesses superior attention to detail in order to spot inconsistencies in contracts and to understand the implication of nuances in contracting language
- Has previous experience in customer service and strong communication skills
- Able to work productively independently and as part of a team
- Must have excellent analytical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills
- Previous experience in the competitive natural gas industry a plus
