We are looking to add a General Manager to our Louisville warehouse. As a GM, you will have full P&L responsibility and will effectively manage the office, warehouse, and show site costs, labor, equipment rental and material expenses. This position requires a high level of customer service at all levels and as well as solid financial and budgeting understanding. You will report directly to the COO. Position does require being onsite full time, as well as the ability to travel to various shows. Salary is $120,000-140,000.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee and manage all warehouse operations, including shipping/receiving, inventory control, and production planning.
- Develop and implement efficient warehouse processes and procedures to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
- Lead and inspire branch team to achieve sales, financial, and service goals.
- Set and communicate strategy for the team along with the actions needed to implement.
- Mentor and develop subordinate supervisors and staff to provide effective leadership in a dynamic environment.
- Implement operational procedures to help better serve clients and increase profitability both locally and within the broader Kansas City service area.
- Take an active role on show site when necessary--ensure quality control and plan, identify, and implement methods to manage and reduce show site labor.
- Negotiate with local vendors and identify cost-saving opportunities, including the evaluation and selection of new vendors.
- Day-to-day supervision of staff to ensure accountability.
- Measure team with key performance indicators/metrics that drive team and individual development.
- Establish, communicate, and monitor productivity targets /expectations for each function in alignment with corporate goals and KPI’s (including delivery targets). Creates and executes plans to achieve targets.
- Identify new areas, technologies, and opportunities in warehouse and show site operations.
- Ensure that the warehouse and show sites have proper staffing plans, and that team members have the resources, training, information, and support needed to perform duties effectively and achieve objectives.
- Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks.
- Financial responsibility including but not limited to:
Drive branch budgeting process and manage to budget. Ability to create financial documents and budgets. Ensure appropriate revenue growth through regional sales team oversight and coordination with the national sales organization. Manages P&L of the branch and allocation of the budget. Responsible for operational expenses, event and show revenue, and other related costs. Analyzes data and trends – utilize spreadsheets and other reporting avenues to address underperformance in the branch. Navigate spreadsheets to address changing needs and trends. - Assist the sales and account management teams on closing new sales and securing renewals.
- Act as a high-level account manager with customers when needed.
- Serve as the face of the company within the local community and industry.
- Perform other related job duties as business requires.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience in trade shows or related industry preferred.
- Five plus years’ experience managing operations with P&L responsibility and a verifiable track record of management success.
- Strong client relationship and service delivery experience
- Leadership skills and ability to manage large staffs.
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
- Excellent written and presentation skills
