This role will be part of a growing intelligence team focused on ensuring that our clients have verified and breaking information through which they can maintain situational awareness and stay ahead of threats.This role will directly support Seerist’s intelligence mission. In this role, you will contribute to providing 24/7 coverage of major security events around the world, with a focus on Arabic-speaking countries in the Middle East and North Africa. We are looking for a Full-time or Part-time Researcher.Role and Responsibilities:
- Identify breaking, major security incidents around the world, rapidly verify these for our client database
- Use a range of sources to identify and select other events that match criteria for inclusion in the database, primarily for countries in the Middle East and North Africa but assisting on other locations as required
- Research relevant information on these events, including locations, damage/loss estimates, affected assets and sectors
- Write short, situational awareness summaries on breaking and planned high impact events
- Collaborate with other colleagues across Seerist and with our partners to support analysis of political, operational, and security risk issues
- Contribute to other research and quality review tasks as required
- Identify trends in data and conduct basic data analysis in response to requests from internal and external clients
Requirements:
- Proven research skills, ideally in a context relevant to political, security, or operational risk issues
- Professional proficiency conducting research in Arabic
- Strong English-language writing skills; able to write short products with minimal editorial review
- Understanding of political violence and security risks and how they related to clients across a range of sectors
- Strong sense of curiosity
- Willing to learn and receive feedback
- Must be willing to work weekend shifts (with equivalent working days off in lieu)
- Flexibility – we’re a small company that moves and reacts quickly to the needs of our users
Desired Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Attention to detail
- Experience in a similar role in security or intelligence
- Working knowledge of other languages such as French and Farsi
- Proficiency in a range of computer skills and technologies.
