Position Summary
The Product Engineer is responsible for supporting tool development with technical direction, iterative testing, and direct feedback. The Product Engineer will support any tool or workflow improvement requests from internal groups, clients, and suppliers. Work is primarily in an Agile environment with the Atlassian software group (JIRA, Confluence, etc.) and the engineer is responsible for software ticket creation, review, and closure.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Support tool requirements and development review while supporting deployment schedules and capability studies.
- Assist with setting tool development gate checks for change control.
- May trains preproduction supplier in tool and process testing.
- Supports control plan development with technical feedback.
Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or web application development experience
- Knowledge of GIS, GPS, LiDAR: Mapping Projections & Datums, GPS Post-Processing, LAS files
- Knowledge of programming and web development server-side technologies: Python, ASP.NET, PHP, and Ruby a plus.
- Knowledge of relational database principles including structured query language (SQL).
Assets
- Experience working with Automotive OEMs and understanding of their quality expectations is a plus.
Work Environment
- Works in a fast-paced office environment with multiple priorities and competing demands.
- Regular office hours with some requirements for additional work during busy times.
- May work for long periods reviewing data on computer.
