Target Marketing Group, a Helm company, is looking for an entry-level Accounting Specialist. We are looking for candidates that are currently in an entry level role and are looking for their next career opportunity with an increased level of responsibility. This position will have a wide range of responsibilities. Candidates that are energetic, detail oriented, analytical and open to mentorship by the Accounting Manager are encouraged to apply! Duties:

  • Prepares standard monthly journal entry work papers and records entries in general ledger.
  • Completes monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts including; prepaid expenses, inventory, fixed assets, intercompany        accounts and accrued taxes. 
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations of all cash accounts.
  • Maintains fixed asset sub-ledger and completes monthly depreciation/amortization schedules and journal entries.
  • Assists with financial analysis prior to executive management review of financial statements for each month end close.
  • Leads research and analysis of accounting related issues and projects.
  • Reports and initiates payment of monthly sales and use tax to appropriate authorities.
  • Continuously evaluates potential areas for improvement in reconciliation and reporting tools and practices.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

RequirementsEducation/Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance required.
  • 2-4 years of accounting experience required.
  • Demonstrable understanding of accounting principles required.
  • Experience with Microsoft based accounting systems preferred (e.g. Great Plains, MS NAV, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required with at least an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Good communication skills required.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Experience in working within month end close time constraints a plus.
