RS21 invites a seasoned Senior Cyber Engineer to join our embedded Cyber Security Engineering team with our Federal partner. This pivotal role involves supporting the operations and maintenance of bespoke solutions as well as conducting Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities within Aurora and Boulder, Colorado. This on-site position at the Aurora campus includes responsibilities at our client's location in Boulder. The role demands specialized skills in vulnerability assessment and analysis, including proficiency with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and DISA STIGs, manual hardening, system compliance, and the capacity to craft solutions to intricate IS compliance and security issues.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Maintain security compliance and conduct vulnerability scans and remediation across various platforms and networks.
  • Develop documentation to underpin A&A activities, ensuring systems achieve and maintain Approval to Operate (ATO).
  • Guide the definition of cybersecurity requirements and design solutions, offer direction on security technologies, analyze cybersecurity data and testing outcomes, initiate cybersecurity designs, and manage related engineering and security documentation.
  • Employ current IA policies in contributing to the secure architecture and design solutions catering to client needs.

Security Clearance:


  • US Citizenship required with an active DOD Secret clearance. Preference for Top Secret/SCI Clearance.

Required Skills:


  • Experience with cybersecurity engineering projects and programs for U.S. Government clients.
  • Proficiency in vulnerability assessment and analysis, utilizing tools such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and DISA STIGs.
  • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework, NIST standards, and cybersecurity assessment tools like ACAS and DISA STIGs.
  • Capable of developing and enhancing automation through scripting or programming and collaborating with teams to fulfill cybersecurity requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with program leadership organizations.
  • Capable of establishing clear tasks and objectives for a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across traditional engineering disciplines.

Qualifications:


  • Proven experience in cybersecurity engineering for U.S. Government clients.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with at least 5 years in cybersecurity engineering.
  • Must hold a Security Certification in line with DoD 8570.01 IAT-II for a Linux environment (e.g., Security+ CE and Linux OS Certification) from the start.

Nice to Have:


  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and enforcement through DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience in manual hardening and system compliance.
  • Understanding of security design concepts with the ability to develop solutions to moderately complex IS compliance and security problems.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, hardware and software life-cycle management, and engineering change proposal processes.
  • Technical experience in Linux system administration.
  • COTS and FOSS patch management/deployment experience.
