Position:Senior Technical WriterPosition Summary:BuddoBot is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to provide support to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) – Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) division.HUD’s EA and IV&V Support Services are tasked with creating an integrated, unified, and comprehensive enterprise architecture program. This program includes associated management processes, such as architecture governance, communications, and toolset management.
As part of maturing the EA Support Services, HUD follows the Architect, Invest, and Implement approach. This approach ensures mission performance within HUD’s business areas by effectively and efficiently aligning the department’s information technology (IT) resources with its strategic business objectives.The EA Support Services team will blend strategic, planning, and engineering components to offer HUD OCIO a comprehensive perspective on the HUD IT portfolio. This view encompasses various aspects, including acquisition, project management, technology, and cybersecurity.The Senior Technical Writer is responsible for creating, editing, and refining content related to reports, manuals, proposals, instructional materials, catalogs, technical publications, and software/hardware documentation.
The ideal candidate should possess a high degree of creativity and autonomy. They will draw upon their EA experience and judgment to set and achieve goals. Additionally, the Senior Technical Writer will handle a diverse range of tasks.Clearance Eligibility: Ability to obtain Public Trust Level 5Salary:The salary offered will depend on education, certifications, length and relevance of work history, and professional experience.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the asset management of all enterprise network-managed equipment
Conduct research on various subject matters
Write and edit content for reports, manuals, proposals, instructional material, catalogs, technical publications, and software and hardware documentation
Gather technical data through independent observation, staff reviews, and studies of existing materials related to EA
Coordinate with technical artists and illustrators to create reports, articles, and publications for both internal and external distribution
Acquire background information on EA technologies, methods, and standards
Revise text, suggesting changes in scope, format, and content to align with established standards.
Demonstrate creativity and autonomy
Rely on experience and judgment in EA to set and achieve goals
Work under the general supervision of the Senior Project Manager or Program Manager
Provide leadership and direction to other team members

Education and Certification Requirements:Bachelors or master’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, or similar discipline.Background and Experience:8+ years’ experience. In place of the eight years of experience, the Senior Technical Writer may have a master’s degree from an accredited academic institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in one or more of the following: English, Creative Writing, Journalism, or similar discipline, with a minimum of four years of experience working under a similar project.Required Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office applications
Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
Strong organizational and planning abilities
Collaborative team player who can adapt to client priorities and work independently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
General office environment. Work is generally sedentary but may require movement about the office for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
Contractor site with 0-10% travel possible
Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages
Occasional movement of small articles up to 10lbs
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Continually operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
Occasionally required to move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
Continually required to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
