Position overview
The role of Fiber Design Engineer will be to create fiber circuits in 3GIS and supply splicing packages to the field for configuration. Update 3GIS with redlines returned from the field with any corrections needed. Also, able to read and analyze OTDR test results to ensure the test results are within our specifications.The position is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate map related support of network footprints and facilities inventories and boundary files related to facilities and routing.
This will include supporting data exports from GIS platforms and GIS related conversions as well as timely and accurate inventory related updates from our engineering vendors.This position will provide support to sales, marketing, operations and the corporate staff with the creation of maps and reports directly related to existing networks, inventories and proposed networks.Essential Job Functions
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for the maintenance and creation of map files in primary formats as required by FBL users.
- Management of Spatial data that support online server applications used by the FBL teams.
- Responsible for the day-to-day data entry of inventory of fiber plant data and support of internal customer’s needs.
- Review OTDR test results
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or 3yrs experience in GIS designing fiber circuits.
- Mapping
- ESRI Training/Experience
- OTDR analysis
- Experience working in 3GIS
- Understanding of Underground Construction Techniques
- Understanding of Outside and Inside Plant Cabling and Routing
- Engineering and process design methodology
- Ability to work across multiple time zones
Other Skills/Abilities
- Expected to utilize most primary office software packages, including MS Excel
- Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner.
- Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
