What You’ll Do


The Terminal Manager of Intermodal Operations ensures the timely delivery of service requirements by supervising a team of front-line supervisors and intermodal operations personnel and overseeing the day-to-day operations of a specific intermodal facility.  Individuals in this role use their strong communication skills to manage, motivate, and collaborate with team members.


Responsibilities


  • Manage staff scheduling, including work assignments and rotations, vacations, breaks, and coverage for absent employees
  • Knowledge of all positions and work assignments to be able to cover as needed for vacations, vacancies and breaks
  • Create, communicate, and execute strategic operational plans to ensure daily success of salaried and hourly staff
  • Facilitate the interview process for new hires and provide feedback and insight to REMPREX upper management
  • Mentor, train, and support the growth of front-line supervisors
  • Conduct Coach and Counsel sessions with staff and administer appropriate discipline as needed
  • Ensure that supervisors conduct daily Safety Briefings and inform staff of shift updates
  • Assist staff in resolving complex operations problems
  • Work with supervisors to generate employee goals and review points
  • Attend Yard Audit, Site Safety, and Senior Hub Management meetings
  • Manage the input, review, and analysis of performance metrics
  • Help all supervised employees improve and maintain performance levels
  • Organize regularly scheduled meetings to enhance staff and management understanding of the strategic terminal plan and specific KPIs
  • Align company and client goals to ensure success of the entire operation

What You’ll Need


Required:


  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of work experience in the intermodal industry including experiencing managing both union and non-union staff members.
  • Professional presentation and the proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to extended or adjusted hours as needed
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing customer requests and requirements, seasonal variances in workload, and industry needs and requirements
  • Must be able to act quickly to implement procedural changes in a fast-paced sometimes stressful environment
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision
  • The ability to communicate effectively both written and oral coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills to foster and support a team environment
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to accurately perform arithmetic computations with an eye for detail
  • Technologically oriented with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.  Must be able to use, manage and/or grow the technologies that support the terminal and its operations
  • Strong background in interacting with, managing, and growing technologies that support the terminal and its operations
  • Physical abilities specific to this role*

Preferred:


  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Synapse AGS Clerk Console, Class 1 Railroad terminal operating systems (TSS, Oasis, ITOS, OBI, etc.)

Location 


  • This role is based out of Jersey City, NJ 07307
  • This role requires candidate's to be on-site during designated shift hours.
