Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, follow CMM and other technical document guidelines to perform Aircraft wheel and brake inspection, repair, and overhaul. Also, performing non-destructive testing on aircraft parts, including wheels and brakes, in order to detect defects or discontinuities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform process controls, to ensure calibrated equipment is calibrated in accordance with the company’s calibration program.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment, as required.
- Follows procedures, processes and inspection techniques using various equipment in order to complete tasks.
- May supervise and train NDT trainees and/or Level I NDT technicians.
- As needed, will perform repairs and overhauls on aircraft wheels and brakes per Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) requirements including removal of worn tires, disassembly, paint strip and/or cleaning, inspection, chemical treatment and assembly of components.
- Must ensure proper tracking and documentation of activities and parts control maintained.
Education, Knowledge, and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree in a Technical Discipline Preferred.
- Active NDT Level II required, if not active re-certification will be necessary.
- For export compliance, must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Minimum of 5 years Non-Destructive Testing experience in two or more of the following disciplines (Magnetic Particle, Fluorescent Penetrant, Ultrasonic, or Eddy Current) desired.
- Experience should include performing non-destructive tests, documentation of test results, and advanced ability to read Components Maintenance Manuals or other documentation needed to ensure test accuracy.
- Read, comprehend, and write the English language.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires long periods of standing and walking at workstations.
- Must be able to use hands and arms for repetitive movements, such as movement of wrists, hands, and fingers while assembling.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 Lbs.
