We are seeking a staff accountant for our accounting and finance department. This person will help support the accounting team and will report to the assistant controller.

This person will need to think on their feet and be organized. They will need to be technically savvy, can adapt and be a quick thinker. Must have positive attitude, be a team player and have a desire to grow within Caliber. Someone who can prioritize and balance their work load appropriately. Must be flexible in schedule during certain times of the year as this is not an 8-5 role. Critical thinking and ability to provide solutions and obtain relevant information on each subject matter.This person will offer support to the Sr Accountants and the finance team overall.
Knowing and understanding the details of all day to day transactions so Caliber can make sure the accounting team is running smoothly.
Responsibilities
Essential FunctionsAccounting Systems and Software FunctionalityAbility to efficiently and effectively use Sage IntacctAbility to efficiently and effectively use Property Management Systems- Ability to efficiently and effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Accounts Payable ResponsibilitiesObtain bills from online portals, mail, courier, etc.Enter bills correctly into accounting system and distinguishing correctly between bills that are to be capitalized versus expensedProcess payments via cheque, ACH, wire transfer, etc.Investigate missed bills/invoicesAccounts Receivable ResponsibilitiesPrepare and process invoices to clients (internal and external)Follow up for payment on outstanding invoices to ensure timely collectionProcess payments received in accounting systemBanking ResponsibilitiesProcess payments received in the office (tenants, 3rd party vendors, etc.)Investigate outstanding depositsProcess tenant depositsPrepare and process tenant refundsTax ResponsibilitiesCompile sales tax information from accounting system(s) broken down by property and portfolio, as requiredReview sales tax collected against sales tax estimated to be remitted to Arizona Department of Revenue and investigate discrepanciesPrepare and file sales tax returns for all properties and portfolios, as requiredEnsure payment for all sales tax returns is made in a timely mannerOther Finance FunctionsPerform analysis and create ad hoc reports as requested by managementAssist in preparing annual budgets and operating expense reconciliations/estimatesProvide support for quarterly, interim and year-end audit engagementsSupport GL upgrades, improvements and implementationsAssist in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Relationships
Reports to: Assistant Corporate ControllerRegularly interacts with Investors, Property Owners, Vendors, Bank Reps and professional colleagues
Requirements Education/Training
- Minimum 2 years of combined education and or experience
Experience
- Minimum 3 years Excel Experience
- Minimum 1 Year Sage IntacctExperience
Skills/Competencies
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressure
- Ability to adapt to processes and deal with ambiguity
- Clear, effective oral and written communication skills are required
- A highly collaborative team player. Comfortable working across department lines with people at all levels in the organization
- Must be flexible. Experience working for or with rapidly growing organizations is a plus
- Ability to think “outside-the -box” and demonstrate creative sourcing strategies
