Description
The LIMS Lead Developer will be responsible for designing and developing Plugins for a LIMS Application to support business requirements and will manage a team of developers and delegate design, documentation, development, and testing activities. Follows approved life cycle methodologies, creates design documents, and performs program coding and testing. Resolves technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation. Familiar with data structures and other standard concepts, practices and procedures required for the application development.
Requires a degree of creativity and latitude. The individual will also work with Business Users, Managers or Developers of our customers. The individual will provide the consulting skills required to analyze customer needs and gaps and propose solutions to achieve the desired state.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to translate customer requirements into functional product configurations.
- Manage remote team developers and delegate Tasks, documentation, development, and testing activities.
- Design, implement and maintain new product plug-ins (Java, Python and JavaScript) to meet customer requirements.
- Triage and troubleshoot incidents/issues with LIMS and follow through to resolution
- Take part in software and architectural development activities.
- Conduct software analysis, programming, testing, and debugging.
- Identifying production and non-production application issues
- Transforming requirements into stipulations
- Recommend changes to improve established Java and Python application processes.
- Develop technical designs for application developmen
- Develop application code for Java and Python programs.
- Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges.
- Participate in all technical reviews and project meetings as requested.
Additional responsibilities are as follows:
- Working with the Lab Users to Gather the requirements, analyzing and documenting those requirements and specifications.
- Conducting and facilitating customer workshops for information gathering and develop prototypes for business review (If necessary).
- Oversee and implement all upgrades and modifications to the LIMS, working in conjunction with the IT team, vendor and Scrum team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience of Software Development.
- Proficiency in Java / J2EE, Webservices, Data Structures, Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Test Driven Development, Relational Databases, SQL and ORM
- Experience in designing, developing and maintaining Java applications.
- Experience in applying Data Structure concepts.
- Experience in R&D Informatics systems such as LIMS, ELN, SDMS would be preferred but not required.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.).
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines is a plus.
- Any relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Java Developer) would be advantageous.
