The Role
- At Cedar, our Staff Workflows team oversees the development of Cedar’s staff-facing software and its underlying technical platform. This includes several internal tools used by Cedar staff, as well as the Operator Portal, the primary interface used by health-system employees (call center operators, front desk staff, and patient advocates) to assist patients with payments, check-in, etc. We are currently seeking a talented Software Engineer III to help us extend these tools with innovative user experiences that will help healthcare workers and Cedar staff alike accomplish their tasks more efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities
- Lead Future Projects: Lead the design and implementation of new end-to-end, full-stack features, overseeing projects that impact a large number of healthcare workers and patients.
- Mentor Other Engineers: Uphold code-quality standards through thoughtful PR reviews and pair programming with your fellow engineers.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and advocate for opportunities to improve the speed, reliability, and maintainability of our existing applications.
- Develop High-Quality Code: Build, test, and maintain code that drives key functionality, with an emphasis on readability, flexibility, testability, and long-term maintainability.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Be an active member of an agile development team, working closely with your counterparts on the Product and Design teams to iterate on new ideas for improving the user experience for patients, healthcare workers, and Cedar staff.
- Own Key Functionalities: Take ownership of critical functionalities such as user authentication, real-time chat infrastructure, Cedar’s patient-facing help center, and key operator workflows (voids, transfers, refunds, etc.).
- Develop Internal Tools: Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal tools like Seeder (our test-data generator), Cedar Admin (our configuration portal), and Engagements (our analytics platform).
Required Skills & Experience
- Technical Proficiency: Minimum of 4-6 years of professional software development experience, working across the stack with a strong ownership mentality focused on delivering value.
- Coding Expertise: Proficiency in at least one major coding language (Python and TypeScript preferred but not required).
- Team Player: Excellent communication & collaboration skills, able to work effectively with teammates across Engineering, Product, Design, and Data Science.
- Mission-Driven: Excited about Cedar’s mission and passionate about solving problems to improve the healthcare financial experience.
- Bonus Skills: Experience with AI, machine learning, and/or large language models (LLMs) is a plus.

Compensation Range and Benefits:
- Salary/Hourly Rate Range*: $170,000 - $200,000
