POSITION SUMMARY
GreenLight Biosciences is currently seeking a Director of IT Operations to lead and oversee GreenLight’s IT Ops function. S/he will be responsible for envisioning and building out the IT organization, developing, and implementing an overall IT strategy and framework for the organization, creating an IT road map, and defining how technology enables GreenLight’s business strategy through business applications and data enablementThe successful candidate will have experience in building, managing, and scaling an IT organization for commercialization and organizational growth within the bio-pharmaceutical industry.
S/he will possess strong leadership, management, and communication skills, ensuring that team members understand and respect functional goals, objectives, priorities, and timelines.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own, Develop and implement the overall IT Ops, strategy, budget and framework for the whole organization, communicating and working with stakeholders to gather requirements & provide solutions that meet those requirements
- Lead and develop a team of IT support professionals and specialists to meet IT needs across the organization. Continue existing relationships with, and on-board new, Service Providers (MSPs) as needed
- Act as a catalyst for change and innovation
- Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future Enterprise IT systems (Hardware, Software) across the organization.
- Execute on IT Ops strategy and framework for the organization, including use of local, hosted, and cloud-based applications, communications, data security and disaster recovery. Partner with all business functions to develop and implement policies and procedures for IT. Scope of role includes oversight of both regulated (GxP) and non-regulated systems.
- Establish and implement processes for deployment, maintenance, and support of all elements of IT infrastructure and hardware
- Application Management (Including Software Development):
- Closely partner with internal Data Science & Management Team that delivers Scientific Data Systems
- Oversee enterprise-level software such as ERP, Applicant Tracking Systems, Agreement management systems etc. for non-scientific (Finance, HR, Legal, etc.) and scientific teams
- Ensure solutions are compliant with all applicable regulations,
- Manage application’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) – and patching, updating and maintenance of all operational business applications within the company
- Update and implement an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan
- Ensure comprehensive controls are in place relating to corporate data and cybersecurity
- Networks and Systems Administration: Oversee network security, network and systems administration including database storage/cloud system utilization, installation of security controls (i.e., firewalls, web application firewalls, intrusion detection systems)
- Service Desk and Support: Ensure reliable and timely hardware and software support though oversight on internal resources and managed services. Own and run ticketing-based support system for all IT Ops requests (hardware, software).
- IT Governance: Program/Project Management, Vendor Management, and Controls: Support interactions with external IT vendors to ensure compliance to policy and establishment of actual systems
- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives, including articulating strategic value from a more sophisticated technology footprint.
- Function as an internal advisor and business partner to the Executive Leadership Team on a wide variety of business processes and technologies and system application opportunities for the Company. Communicate proactively and effectively with organizational stakeholders
- Develop IT team into key business partners, bringing technology perspective to understand what’s possible, collaborating across teams to drive business results
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 10 years IT management experience, managing both vendors (Managed Services) and internal IT Service Delivery teams
- Biotech, Agtech or life sciences experience with manufacturing and lab as well as an understanding of environment preferred
- Previous experience with IT in a Microsoft ecosystem, including on-prem and cloud-native systems
- Significant cybersecurity experience is a must
- Experience with leading Desktop Support, Help/Service Desk and infrastructure Ops teams as a Manager and Technical Lead.
- Experience with Enterprise ERP systems implementation for a manufacturing environment across supply chain processes, using vendor and internal resources.
- Hands-on Experience with manufacturing and laboratory systems support, including IT support for Operations Technology (OT)
- Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language with the demonstrated ability to teach and share knowledge with others in a clear and concise manner; along with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both small and large groups and to handle questions in a commercially astute, proactive and sensitive manner.
- Experience defining IT Ops Strategy, Budgets Framework and Service Delivery roadmaps for a high-growth biotech organization is preferred
