About the Role:


As a Solutions Engineer at Alluxio, you will play a pivotal role in driving the technical success of our engagements with enterprise customers. Reporting to the Solutions Engineering Manager, you will work closely with sales teams, helping to understand customer requirements, design solutions, and ensure successful implementation of Alluxio’s products. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, customer-facing skills, and the ability to navigate complex data environments.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Technical Sales Ownership: Lead the technical sales process for numerous customers day to day, from introductory meetings through proof of concept and all the way to close.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Solutions Engineering Manager and internal teams to execute pilot projects and POCs with customers and prospects.
  • Hands On: Building, owning, driving PoC processes in multi-technology environments and have the ability to influence and get buying decisions on new technology solutions.
  • Solution Design: Understand customer requirements and design tailored solutions that leverage Alluxio’s capabilities to meet their specific needs.
  • Customer Training: Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate customers on Alluxio's business value and best practices for using Alluxio’s products.
  • Technical Pre-Sales: Partner with sales teams to provide technical expertise during the pre-sales process, including conducting product demonstrations and presentations.
  • Feedback Loop: Gather customer feedback and collaborate with product management and engineering teams to drive product improvements and innovation.
  • Domain Expert: Stay current with industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to effectively position Alluxio’s solutions.
  • Technical Documentation: Documenting best practices and lessons learned to create a repeatable, scalable Solutions Engineering organization. (Including discovery calls, PoC Scoping, Business Value Assessment, Business Value *Realization as well as driving Mutual Success plans with prospects.)

Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of experience as a hands on solutions engineer, supporting all phases of technical sales cycle.
  • Intermediate/Expert Level Linux/Networking/Storage knowledge required.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed systems Hadoop, Spark, Presto, HDP, CDH.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Orchestration frameworks like Mesos, Kubernetes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to triage and troubleshoot complex distributed system issues.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with modern sales methodologies and a customer-centric approach to solution design.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Java/Python.
  • Background in Data Pipelining and Data Analytics.

All candidates will also receive equity (stock options) and access to a comprehensive benefits package. The base salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for candidates across all US locations. The specific compensation awarded will be based on factors such as work location, skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
