About the Role 📖
The VP of Finance will report to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the entire Accounting and Finance organisation. The role will oversee financial reporting, investor and lender relations, FP&A, treasuries management, global financial compliance, and cross-functional business partnering. The role will require executive decision making and management of a high-functioning and globally compliant accounting & finance function.
What You’ll Be Doing 🧠
Establishing and enforcing company financial policies, processes, controls and reporting systems.
Running the quarterly, annual, and long-term planning processes for the business and reporting out to department leaders and the Board.
Owning the month-end and year-end close processes, management and board reporting, and cash flow management and forecasting.
Leading internal and external audit processes, ensuring all financial records, statements and reports are accurate, complete, and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Manage and develop a remote team of full-time and contracted accounting and finance staff overseeing bookkeeping, payroll, accounts receivables, accounts payables, and procurement.
Working with cross-functional teams to plan and execute strategic projects including pricing, new business line launches, designing compensation plans, large systems implementations and fundraising.
Being a trusted advisor to the Executive team on company-wide strategies and decisions affecting business performance.
About You 👍
Experience in successfully implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning system.
Experience leading and completing audit processes for a multi-entity global business (US + UK experience preferred).
Experience operating in a global supply chain environment with familiarity of logistics, customs & duties, and taxes is ideal.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred.
8 years+ of relevant leadership experience at a high-growth startup (ideally Marketplace or SaaS).
Experience operating at a global company with entities outside of the UK, especially Portugal and the United States is essential.
Executive management experience developing and supporting a high functioning global team.
Strong leadership skills with a track-record of successfully identifying, scoping, and delivering on complex cross-functional strategic projects.
Deep understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), particularly with application of ASC 606, knowledge of regional accounting standards and regulations in the UK, EU, and APAC.
Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
Modern process and tool thinking, specifically working with SaaS financial and accounting technology and robotic process automation.
Advanced MS Excel skills are critical; experience with Xero, Netsuite (or other Tier 1 ERP), Salesforce, and BI tools like Looker or Sisense are a plus.
High attention to accuracy and detail required.
Exceptional work ethic, with the discernible ability to “roll up your sleeves” and lead by example.
