Seattle/Boulder: $100,000-$120,000
                                           Madison/select remote markets: $85,000-$105,000

Position Objective:


OneEnergy is adding a Senior Accountant role to its growing Accounting team.  This role will assume ownership of executing revenue recognition and payroll, participating in month-end close, managing standalone entity accounting and annual financial audits, and participating in company’s overall tax management and reporting requirements. This role is vital to help keep the company’s day-to-day accounting functions running smoothly and is responsible for projecting a professional company image and maintaining excellent internal/external customer relations.

Responsibilities:


  • Own monthly revenue recognition for projects, ensuring revenue recognition and COGS is in accordance with company technical accounting policies.
  • Perform numerous period-end closing tasks, including reconciliations, journal entries, reviews and supporting the Accounting Manager as needed.
  • Participate in consolidated annual audit and own operating project company standalone audit with Accounting Manager oversight.
  • Execute bi-monthly hourly and salary payroll and manage state and local payroll tax registration and compliance.
  • Maintain certified payroll software and ensure the timely reporting of EPC (engineering procurement construction) certified payrolls for projects.
  • Support Accounting Manager and V.P, Corporate Controller with company’s tax management.
  • Prepare various federal and state jurisdiction one-off reporting requirements throughout the year.
  • Prepare cost segmentation reports for projects timely on an as-needed basis.
  • Contribute to the documentation, maintenance, and review of accounting processes.
  • Review signed business contracts for operational accounting implications, present path forward to Accounting Manager, and implement or book journal entries as needed.
  • Respond to various internal and external requests for information, producing regular or specific reports and schedules as requested. 
  • Contribute to requirements related to grant accounting, inclusive of providing solutions for compliance.
  • Contribute to various accounting team initiatives as they arise.
  • Support improvement of cross functional transactional ‘speed’ by reflecting on accounting risk, controls and processes and proposing changes to Accounting Manager.
  • Ensure company accounting and finance policies and procedures are adhered to in day-to-day practice.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in accounting, or equivalent of relevant experience
  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • Experience in solar development or construction industry desired, but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years (combined) experience contributing to a high performing operational accounting team or working for a top tier audit firm
  • Familiarity with complex accounting concepts including but not limited to revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), and inventory accounting.
  • In depth understanding of GAAP financial statements
  • Payroll processing experience via third-party processing service and experience with multi-state compliance is desired, but not required
  • Experience with contributing to corporate annual audits
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and communicate sensitively and effectively with employees and co-workers
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate a high degree of time management and organizational skills resulting in the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at various stages of delivery with competing deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Must be self-motivated and enjoy a team-oriented approach to work, contributing to a supportive, collaborative, cross functional team environment
  • Apply a systems mindset to own workflow, across the accounting function, and cross-functionally
  • Comfortable operating in a hybrid remote and in person team environment
  • Fulfills job responsibilities with a customer focus mindset by providing efficient, timely, and reliable service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Proactive and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to clearly communicate problems and identify possible solutions
  • Must have a “roll up your sleeves and let’s get the job done right” type attitude
  • Proficiency in ERP system such as Sage Intacct or NetSuite preferred
  • High proficiency in Office 365 skills, particularly in Excel, required
