We are looking for a highly analytical, hard-working and self-directed individual who is excited by the opportunity to work closely with the firm’s Investment Team on the evaluation, structuring and execution of transactions in Europe. The person should be passionate about the type of work Generate is doing and excited to help scale a growing business in the energy transition space.
What you will be doing at Generate Capital as an Analyst, Investment - Europe:
- Assisting the team’s origination efforts across Europe
- Evaluating potential transactions by reading corporate pitch decks, analyzing projects and having introductory phone calls
- Performing market research for target investment sectors and preparing actionable presentations and reports that yield future investments
- Analyzing financial information relating to specific companies, e.g. company results, profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements to determine how an organization is positioned to deliver for investors
- Conducting a detailed diligence process including managing external consultants and legal resources
- Preparing detailed project pro formas and tranche models and performing sensitivity analyses
- Helping to prepare investment memoranda by assembling data from multiple sources to develop and produce coherent investment recommendations
- Supporting the drafting and negotiation of investment term sheets and legal documents
- Supporting ongoing portfolio monitoring and management
- Leading ongoing asset funding request and approval process
Candidate qualifications & core characteristics:
- A demonstrated passion for, or commitment to, our mission
- 1-2 years of work experience with a strong preference for work in investment banking or private equity including rigorous financial modelling experience
- Fluency in at least one other European language
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with high academic achievement
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience in diligence, managing and closing transactions in the energy and infrastructure space
- Strong work ethic, superb analytical skills and commitment to excellence
- Detail orientation and meticulousness with an uncompromising desire for timeliness and accuracy
- Ability to synthesize and effectively communicate findings of analyses
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, intuition, and listening as well as strong writing, editing, and basic design skills
- High level of self-awareness and humility, with excitement about confronting uncomfortable situations or new challenges
- Intellectual agility, curiosity, and creativity; problem-solving is your default mode
- Entrepreneurial spirit: flexibility, comfort with risk, recognition that “perfect can be the enemy of the good”
