The Role & Team:
This person should feel motivated to produce some of the most talked-about articles on Meta. These can be scoops, features with surprising angles and exclusive insights, original profiles of high-profile innovators, or investigations that spark industry change. This writer should have deep sourcing at Meta and its family of apps companies and related organizations like The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and considerable experience in what it takes to turn tips into scoops and other original stories.
Access to inside sources at Meta companies is a plus, along with the ability to obtain or review internal documents. This is a position for a seasoned journalist who is confident they can produce groundbreaking stories regularly.This role focuses a business of tech lens on Meta, its AI ambitions, and Mark Zuckerberg. Below is a sampling of our stories:
- Internal documents show Amazon has for years knowingly tricked people into signing up for Prime subscriptions. 'We have been deliberately confusing,' former employee says.
- 'They are untouchable': Microsoft employees say 'golden boy' executives are still running wild, 8 years after the company vowed to clean up its toxic culture

In your application, please include links to five articles you’ve written that showcase this type of reporting, as well as five story ideas you'd want to pursue in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce at least 24 articles a year.
- Juggle three main story types expertly: faster scoops, medium-term exclusive features, and big investigations.
- Generate original, actionable ideas that drive conversation and excite our readers.
- Maintain and build a strong network of sources.
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience breaking news on important, competitive beats
- A fascination with technology and the business of tech
- Strong organization and communication skills
- The ability to self-motivate and meet deadlines
- A rolodex of sources and the ability to quickly ramp that up further
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
