The Role:


This position at Data Society Group will entail a variety of software engineering skills related to frontend development, cloud engineering, and data science support. You will be part of a small engineering team building both internal tools and customer applications that use data science to solve challenging problems in a variety of business and government domains.

Responsibilities:


  • Design and assemble from a blank slate frontend systems that will support our internal and external customers.
  • Partner with UX/UI Designers to strike a balance between functional and aesthetic design. Gather and refine requirements based on SOW, client feedback, and current best practices.
  • Plan and build semantic, accessible web pages and components, following Section 508 and WCAG standards.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.
  • Work with cloud, distributed computing, DevOps, containerization with Docker, CI/CD, and various team tools like Jira to ensure product accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Comply with CMMC and ISO privacy and quality standards.

Skills you bring:


  • 5+ years of experience in web or app development, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to program in JavaScript. Experience with Typescript, and some experience working with other languages such as Python, is preferred.
  • Ability to independently seek out and learn new open-source technologies.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JSON. Deep knowledge of all three is a strong plus.
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, Svelte, or Solid.
  • Experience with test frameworks such as Jest, RTL, and Cypress.
  • Experience with or understanding of cloud technologies, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Basic understanding of UX/UI principles, including cross-browser testing and accessibility testing.
