Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to those transitioning from or at risk of homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own, and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes. Additionally, we implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veteran services, and health care sectors. In short, we do good work.We have offices statewide with a staff of passionate people.

Department Summary


The Brilliant Corners’ Housing Services Team is nationally recognized for its ability to secure scattered-site and project-based housing within tight rental markets. We use robust landlord engagement strategies, including financial incentives, to secure community-based units for vulnerable populations. Our participants include people exiting institutions, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and people experiencing homelessness. We pair landlord engagement with tenancy-centered services using a customer-service approach to ensure shared success for our participants, property providers, case management partners, and funders.

This collaborative approach is instrumental in ending cycles of homelessness and institutionalization for thousands of people across California.

Program Summary


The Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP) is a supportive housing rental subsidy program of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS). It includes multiple sub-programs, all working towards the goal of securing quality housing for extremely vulnerable Angelenos. Our funders include County departments, other governmental partners, managed-care organizations, and foundations. As the central coordinating community-based partner for FHSP, Brilliant Corners secures a broad range of housing options Countywide, provides move-in assistance and rental subsidy disbursements, provides support with tenancy matters and coordinates with participant assigned case managers.

Position Summary


The FHSP Associate Director position is an amazing opportunity for a person interested in leveraging their unique skillset to lead and implement one of Los Angeles’ County’s largest efforts to end homelessness. The Associate Director will have a seat at the table with some of the County’s top funders (DHS, DMH, ODR, LAHSA, etc.) and will have the opportunity to impact how services are delivered to thousands of unhoused Angelenos. S/he/they will have immense leeway in implementing process improvements to current practices, and the ability to shape programmatic priorities and strategic planning.

The Associate Director, in collaboration with Program Managers and Program Supervisors, will be able to embrace their experience and leadership vision to oversee and develop a significant team of homeless service professionals. They will work in an organizational environment that values new ideas and inclusive decision making. The Associate Director will have the support of the FHSP Director and established support departments – Finance, People Operations, and Data/Technology – to implement their vision and achieve positive outcomes for program participants and staff. The FHSP Associate Director will also have the opportunity to serve on Brilliant Corners’ Leadership Team, an advisory and decision-making body for agencywide priorities and policies.The position is ideal for a person who:

The Associate Director will be part of the Brilliant Corners LA Housing Services Leadership Team and oversee a portion of Tenancy Supports for the Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP). The Associate Director will report to the FHSP Director and work closely with the other FHSP Associate Directors. The Associate Director will directly supervise several managers overseeing the daily operations of the day-to-day work. This role will serve as an agency and program leader and thought partner and be responsible for developing and guiding the programs and teams they oversee to fulfill the mission, vision, and goals of LA FHSP and Brilliant Corners.

This position will design proper procedures and strategies and ensure they are followed to meet program and funder objectives. The Associate Director will coordinate with various agency funders, and both facilitate and participate in coordinated activities and meetings with agency partners. They will work with BC’s Data/Tech department to utilize data-driven analysis and forecasting to measure and evaluate the performance of programs and program goals. It is essential that the Associate Director coach and model a client-centered, collaborative approach, and demonstrate exceptional leadership, organization, problem-solving, and project management skills. The Associate Director will use a strengths-based approach to build a cohesive team and

inspire a culture of excellence. The Associate Director must be able to effectively engage with high-level stakeholders.  The position is ideal for a person who excels at supporting staff in meeting their full potential, operating innovative housing programs, and who is committed to social justice.  


Requirements


Professional Experience


  • 3 or more years of experience in the human services, public policy, or social justice fields.    
  • Demonstrated leadership as evidenced by increasing levels of responsibility and management over the course of the candidate’s career.
  • At least 2 years supervising a team or comparable levels of leadership.
  • Familiarity with supportive housing and/or homeless service programs preferred.

Physical Requirements


Candidates should have physical mobility for tasks such as standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces. They should be capable of performing stationary tasks like sitting for up to 6 to 8 hours a day. Additionally, candidates should be able to lift, carry, push, pull light to moderate weights up to 15 pounds safely. Requires mental acuity for analytical reasoning and document interpretation.Salary range for this position is $100,000 - $105,000 annually.
