We are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to join our Managed Services group in the
Toronto office. This is a full-time hybrid position.The Senior Technical Linux Systems Specialist will participate in technical delivery of Managed Services to internal and external customers and participate in corporate infrastructure projects as needed.
What you'll do:
- Participate in the day-to-day operational support and service delivery of the IT Infrastructure by responding to incidents and changes through the internal ticketing system.
- Develop and implement technical solutions based on infrastructure strategy.
- Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure systems to ensure they remain operational and secure.
- Perform administration on user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage assignment in accordance with best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify areas of continuous service improvement and contribute to ongoing projects as assigned.
- Participate and collaborate with the infrastructure team in the management and deployment of Servers, Storage, Networking equipment, and automation of routine tasks.
- Train and mentor junior staff when needed
- Provide afterhours support based on the scheduled rotation or as needed.
You must have:
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS or Ubuntu.
- Expertise in setting up and managing Linux based solutions On-Prem and on Cloud infrastructure, (preferably IBM Cloud environment).
- Understanding of On-Prem and Cloud-security concepts including Firewalls, VPCs, Encryption and identity and access controls.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Manage Engine, Nagios or IBM Cloud Monitoring.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, networking, and applications running on Linux.
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients, understand their requirements, and provide timely support and solutions.
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and learn new tools and techniques to stay updated in the rapidly changing cloud/on-prem infrastructure landscape.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet for managing and provisioning infrastructure.
Nice to have:
- University degree/diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology or an equivalent education program.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) - Linux administration.
- Knowledge of the IBM PowerVS platform.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python.
- Experience with an ITSM ticketing tool – Service Now.
